Experienced Downtown Physiotherapy Clinic

Welcome to the Beginning of Better.

At Physiotherapy for Kent, we are a team of passionate, dedicated health professionals who are 100% committed to 100% patient satisfaction through positive outcomes and results. Our downtown physiotherapy clinic understands that the most essential element in getting you better is taking the time to sit down and listen. This is why we offer treatment to each and every patient in an individual treatment area.  Our patients feel well informed and comfortable with their treatment from start to finish, whether they require one session or more. At Physiotherapy on Kent our dedication and commitment is guided by one main principle – We take the time to care!

Our registered physiotherapists recognize that the best care is informed care.  They are committed to ongoing clinical excellence through continuing education and skills development.  As clinicians, we learn first from you.  You are unique and what we learn from each patient experience helps hone our questions, our skills and our knowledge.  As a team, we learn from each other.  We share information, thoughts, and cases and benefit from a collective wealth of experience.  As professionals, we continue to read journals, search for information, take courses, attend rounds, and go to conferences so that we can remain at the forefront and in the vanguard of practice.

When you choose Physiotherapy on Kent, you are in good hands.  Here’s what you can expect:

  1. In the first appointment, a thorough assessmen along with a diagnosis or impression of your specific condition and,
  2. A physiotherapy treatment plan specific to your condition.  We strive to provide treatment as part of your first appointment.  We will also provide you with advice and home exercise.  The best treatment is one that happens both inside and outside the clinic.
  3. Follow-up sessions will be recommended based on your goals.  Maybe you only want one session?  Maybe you need more?  Every situation is different, and treatment is tailored to both what you want and what the need is.  Follow up treatments may include hands-on treatment/manual therapy, exercise progression, and possibly modalities such as dry needling or electrotherapy.

We recognize that we are one member of a health team that is built around you.  If you need care that we aren’t able to provide, we will refer you to the people we think will help get you better faster – either in partnership with the care we are providing or as a continuation of it.

Why Choose Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is, “The practice of physiotherapy is the assessment of neuromuscular, musculoskeletal and cardio respiratory systems, the diagnosis of diseases or disorders associated with physical dysfunction, injury or pain and the treatment, rehabilitation and prevention or relief of physical dysfunction, injury or pain to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment function and promote mobility.” Physiotherapy Act, 1991 (Ontario)

Mobility has always been essential to our existence.  The human body, with over 200 bones, over 600 muscles, and thousands of kilometres of blood vessels to fuel it all is designed to be a moving machine.  Physiotherapists are mobility experts.

Did you know that physiotherapy was started in Canada 100 years ago by Enid Graham?  In that time, early physiotherapists played an important role in rehabilitating injured soldiers and helped them reintegrate back into society.  The role of physiotherapy and physiotherapists grew with each conflict over the 20th century and the bond between the profession and the military is one that goes back to the beginning of the profession.

What is the role of physiotherapy today?  Today, we talk about livable communities and 10 minute neighbourhoods.  We talk about complete streets with ample room for walking and cycling.  We talk about our quality of life.  We talk about obesity.  We talk about mental health and well-being.  We talk about chronic pain and the opioid crisis.  Integral to all of these is movement.  An essential aspect to our design and our existence has always been mobility and physiotherapy keeps you moving.
